Nurses use research to provide medical care based on evidence to promote high quality medical outcomes in individuals, families, communities, and medical systems. Nurses also use research to develop direct medical and health policy not only within the organization, but also at the local, state, and federal levels. An ANA research agenda was developed to guide association's research related work. It helps researchers understand the priority areas of ANA in submitting considerations concerning the use of NNDQI data.

Nurses can post EBP studies in academic single - blind or double - blind peer - reviewed journals. Many state and nursing care institutions such as ANA are conducting nursing research. National Nursing Research is known for comprehensive research. This will build the scientific foundation of our nursing practice, strengthen hospice care and palliative care, and help guide disease prevention, treatment and innovation management. EBP research can be conducted in any care field including hospice care, elderly care or long-term care environment, hospital unit, home care, drug abuse program and risk management.

The National Nursing Research Institute is involved in financing nursing research and research and training. The focus of the organization is to provide support through a wide range of fields including self management, health promotion and maintenance, symptom management, chronic and acute diseases, health differences and hospice care. The Enhanced Nursing Science Council is a member organization of the American Nurses Association established in 2000 to promote "better health" through nursing science. The Council plays a role of nursing science at national and international level and provides life-long learning opportunities for nurse scientists.
