The purpose of this research is to measure the professional and personal values of nurses and identify the factors that affect these values. Participants were 323 Israeli nurses, asked 36 values and 20 professional values. Three basic occupational care values, human dignity, patient equality, and pain prevention were first evaluated. The top 10 values evaluated are related to nurse's responsibility to the patient. Altruism and confidentiality were not highly appreciated, and health promotion and nursing research were evaluated as the last three occupational values. Honesty, responsibility, and intelligence were first evaluated for personal (tool) value, ambition and imagination were evaluated 18 and 18 on 18 and 16 respectively. There were significant differences (P <0.05), education, professional qualifications, location and field of expertise in some personal and occupational values evaluated as cultural functions. The results help to understand the motivation of nurses with different characteristics and may help to promote their work based on professional ethical values

Nurses must distinguish between their own personal values and professional ethics. Personal values may be important for their private life, but for occupational behavior you need to follow the nursing practice code in every situation. Instead, their motivation should be to provide care to those in need. Nursing as a profession is a lifelong choice that requires will and commitment. Nurses are active in difficult circumstances. Ultimately, this may affect individuals and cause bad behavior such as the occurrence of anger for innocent patients. This behavior among caregivers threatens the patient's happiness and planned mitigation measures are important to reduce such cases. Compliance with occupational values, attitudes and behaviors by all caregivers will ensure patient safety and improve work performance
