Through the history of the movie, many works are based on the novels that are sold most. This is what an award-winning novel called "Go Ask Alice" is doing; this book is about girls fighting drugs. Making a movie a movie is very common, because the director is convinced that their target audience is interested in the theme of their future movies. Readers often expect to see their own lives given to their favorite novels, but if they adapt inappropriately, that is a very disappointing thing.
