North Carolina State, as reported by Ashboro's Courier-Tribune, became the first state to adopt a minimum wage of $ 15 for most state employees.
This change is included in the state budget that went into effect on Tuesday. Legislative members voted for veto by Roy Cooper Governor (D) on budget.

This change will apply to most jobs of state institutions and the North Carolina University system, but it does not apply to temporary workers, public schools, or community college employees with less than $ 15 per hour.
Robert Bloom, executive director of North Carolina State Employee Association, told the Courier Tribune that public school bus drivers, guardians, and educational assistants are basically excluded from new minimum wages.
According to the North Carolina State Education Association, TA still raises $ 400 a year.
North Carolina's minimum wage is currently $ 7.25 per hour. However, if an employer can calculate a tip as a salary and can impose a tip on the minimum wage, the law requires prior notice to the chip employee and permits all chips. Change employees every month or per payment period
Please note - There is no minimum wage rule for South Carolina. This means that the federal minimum wage will be applied. South Carolina State is one of the five provinces with no minimum wage set by the state government. In this case, the federal minimum wage of $ 7.25 will be the law. The same can be said for Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. In addition, working over 40 hours a week in South Carolina is possible overtime. It must be at least 1.5 times normal hourly wage. As a result, the minimum wage for overtime at South Carolina is currently $ 10.88 per hour. There are several exemptions of overtime such as seasonality, workers, independent contractors, some farm workers.
