Nirvana’s Effect on American Culture and Society

The American rock band Nirvana has influenced American culture and society by opening the way for punk rock and subculture to enter American mainstream companies. Punk rock music comes from rock style, but has its own agenda. The key to punk rock is that it is an exercise against traditional culture that is against social norms. The punk clock itself consists of subcultures of people who refused to tamper with rock music in the 1970s. (Masar, 2006, p. 8). Music emphasizes the concept of anti-establishment and anti-authoritarianism in the lyrics and despises political idealism in American society.

Over the years, the mass media has had a great impact on people who have come into contact with American society, culture, and the media. Mass media is a form of socialization and has long-term impact on every member of American society. Mass media targets individuals in a short period of time, but as consumers move from fragile age groups to other age groups the overall impact on them has been found. When assessing its role in the United States, the long-term or short-term impact of the mass media is independent and different. Mass media has different influences on people because of different exposure and form.

Mass media plays a central role in American culture and society. The press influences what to say, how to say it, when to say it, and who to say it. Until the 1950s Americans relied on prints and radios to understand the world around them. The delay between the occurrence of events and the report creates distances and often leads to discontinuities between events and society. The TV changed everything. In the mid-1950s, 66% of US households owned television. By the 1960's, this figure soared to over 90%. As television became widely available, participation in recognition and events began to be affected. Most family TVs have revolutionized information and culture.
