New York City Fighting Influenza

Public health authorities in New York City are fighting influenza. New York City is moving forward with plans to reduce the spread of the influenza epidemic that hit the city a month ago. Unlike any other cities in the country, the cities' disease control methods are subject to many criticisms and fears about the lives of New Yorkers. Important members of the government's medical community made many requests, but Dr. Royal S. Copeland, a city health commissioner, refused to close schools, theaters, churches and "public entertainment facilities".

Currently, epidemics occurring in most major cities in the United States affect everyone, both inside and outside the city. New Yorkers I am proud to be a citizen of New York City. I was particularly proud of this during the war when many of my brothers, sons, nephews, and friends fought for our beautiful country. Sadly, by seeing people killed in countless wars, people living in this epidemic seem to have infinite hunger for human life. Along with many of my compatriots, I see that the number of deaths and destructions that have entered this wonderful city with war and flu epidemic has become increasingly irritated
