In the relatively short history, the rise of New York as the top of the alpha world city is almost entirely due to the energy, innovation and dedication of its people and leaders over the past four centuries. New Yorker lives in one of the most cultural cities in the world and I am very proud.
The first settlers in Europe were Dutch fur traders who established trade colonies in the early 17th century. Their main town, New Amsterdam, was founded in New York City today.
