New Weather Forecasting Terminology

To further disseminate the interface and enhance communication with the Ministry of the Interior, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) changed the language and redefined many terms. Using more realistic and accurate terms, you can better understand the terms used in weather forecasts.

Due to recent changes, the classification of seasonal rainfall has changed. IMD has introduced six new categories to replace the four old rain categories, namely excess, normal, missing, deficient. The new categories are as follows.
