As the size, speed and flexibility of the network grows, the role of network management becomes increasingly important. Recent developments in Internet technology may provide the ability to solve some of the most challenging and problematic solutions in network management. Advances in network architecture and technology are increasingly dependent on how these networks are managed. The purpose of this white paper is to explore the mystery surrounding the latest developments in network management technology and standards and to point out its importance to new network technologies.

Capsa Free is a network analyzer that monitors network traffic, solves network problems, and analyzes packets. Features include more than 300 network protocols (including protocol creation and customization features), MSN and Yahoo Messenger filters, email monitoring and autosave, and support for customizable reports and dashboards. Fiddler is a web debugging tool that captures HTTP traffic between the selected computer and the Internet. This allows you to analyze incoming and outgoing data and monitor and modify requests and responses before reaching the browser. Fiddler provides very detailed information about HTTP traffic that can be used for Web site performance testing and web application security testing (for example, Fiddler can decrypt HTTPS traffic).

Microsoft Network Monitor is a packet analyzer that enables you to capture, display, and analyze network traffic. This tool can be used to troubleshoot network problems and applications on the network. Key features include support for over 300 public and Microsoft proprietary protocols, simultaneous capture sessions, wireless monitoring mode, and sniffing of promiscuous traffic. After launching Microsoft Network Monitor, select the adapter you want to bind from the main window and click New Capture to launch the new Capture tab. On the Capture tab, click Capture Settings to change the filter options, adapter options, or global settings accordingly, and click Start to start the packet capture process. Very useful, but this tool is archived and currently Microsoft recommends using Message Analyzer for the same purpose.

Cisco Prime (formerly Cisco Works) is a Cisco proprietary network management tool. Prime is used for management of network monitoring, troubleshooting, setting, management and so on. The software makes it easier to control the network. With monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities, network administrators can quickly discover and solve problems that occur across the network. In the image above, you can see the main screen of the Prime software. It contains important information such as the type of hardware in the network. As shown in the "Administrator" section, network administrators have access to network settings such as monitoring, troubleshooting, notification settings, configuration settings, and so on. GUI (Graphical User Interface) is very simple and you can easily navigate the settings. Because administrators can easily monitor the network, this is a convenient layout for administrators.
