Negotiating Thanksgiving: An Animal Rights Perspective

For all vegetarians and vegans Thanksgiving is a minefield of logistics and emotion. Of course, the traditional American meal center is turkey, relatives like old relatives, especially my grandmother surrounding the food, will feel bad if vegetarians hurt if they do not participate in cooking. Over the last few years I have tried many strategies to achieve my belief that living in a cruel life while still respecting my body and relatives.

From the point of view of animal rights, the rights of animals means that animals such as humans can not sacrifice the interests of others. They do not believe that the rights of animals are absolute; like humans, the rights of animals must be restricted. The main point that activists want to convey is that animals have the right to think equally in their own interests. Opinions on animal rights issues vary widely, should the government interfere and establish actions defining and protecting animal rights? Probably you can reduce unnecessary suffering of animals in society if you succeed in creating guidelines that clearly define the rights of animals and the extent to which they protect their rights.

The rights of animals are different from the welfare of animals. In general, the term "animal rights" means that humans do not have the right to use animals for their own purposes. "Animal welfare" means that human beings have the right to use animals as long as humans are treated humanely. Regarding the location of animal rights in factory agriculture, there is no right to slaughter animals as food, regardless of how an animal is treated while alive and the animal welfare department eliminates some cruel practices I hope that.

Those who defend the rights of animals believe that animals have legal rights and are members of an ethical community. Therefore, humans should not use animals for any purpose. Advocates of animal welfare believe that nonhuman animals should be handled humanely without unnecessary suffering, but humans can be used for food, clothing, research and entertainment. The subject of such organizational academic controversy may be suitable for high school and university level. As well as structured academic controversy, preparation of students and teachers in advance is essential. The city council itself will take 60-70 minutes, depending on how deeply you expect the students.
