Masashi Kishimoto, writer / artist, was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1974. After a while at the Academy of Arts, he received the new comic artist's Hop Step Award in comic Karakuri ("Mechanism"). Kishimoto decided to build the next story based on Japanese traditional culture. The first version of Naruto, which he painted in 1997, is a one-off story about the fox's elves. His final version debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and soon became the most popular ninja comic in Japan
