Myne Owne Ground

Myne Owne Ground is a black man who arrived in Virginia around 1621 and was acquired as a slave of the tobacco field of Bennett plantation. Since black slaves had no last name, he was only called "Antonian Black" at the time. On 22 March 1622 the Indians left 12 surviving slaves in Bennett Farm. One of them is Anthony. In the same year, a woman named Mary came to the plantation. Anthony was lucky enough to receive her as his wife as she was the only woman living in Bennett Farm in 1625.

M. Own Ground Brin by T. H. "Myne Owne Ground" by T. H. Brin has a different view of people living in the south and black people. It shows how blacks can have wonderful things and can accumulate the same wealth as wealthy white gentlemen, but it never was recognized. Unlike other historical books, this book does not continue to be about slavery and atrocities, but it provides examples of what some blacks can achieve. An example is a man named Anthony Johnson who can escape slavery to make himself a diligent person and later become a free black country.
