The book "Myne Owne Ground" by T. H. Breen and Stephen Innes has done a wonderful job of showing the reader the difference in view of Africans living in one of 13 Virginia colonies. It further demonstrates how contracted Africans can earn the same wealth as competent and wealthy white people. But the average Caucasian group will never recognize it. Whether the society described in this book is colorblind, this book has two themes. On the other hand, the authors argue that people in Africa can live normally, and if they have wealthy wealthy we believe they are comparable to whites. See more
Africa's "contract civil servant" can be regarded as an important representative of a non-color blind society. First of all, those African "nonbroken servants" did not have a surname like Caucasian, and even Anthony Johnson was named "Antonio Black" by his master, and He just arrived in Virginia as a "contract employee." Secondly, a colorless blind society may be reflected in Virginia law. After the announcement of slavery, it was extremely unfair among Africans and Caucasians. Wisrop Jordan says, "Virginia law separates black people ... they are depriving them of their obligations to carry important rights and weapons, and there are few restrictions to more clearly deny blacks of the white community" 25 pages) Finally, there is a big unfair difference between Caucasian and African on "escorted servant" who escaped. At the time of the incident, two white workers received 30 eyelashes, requested as a severe punishment for another 4 years, another African man also received the same severe punishment, ordered "for the master" It was done. Or the service of his master. "Specify his lifetime here and elsewhere (p. 28). These are just a few of the many examples of unfair treatment on behalf of Africa's "contract civil servants". Breen and Innes insist that in 1625 he is "s" (pages 9 and 116), but because there is no evidence that Virginia is currently implementing slavery at the moment this is It's true. On the contrary, the Europeans were not sentenced to lifetime labor because they ran away. Mr. Punch's case, by 1640, Virginia leaders believe that Africans are "irreversible" and show that they gradually and consistently imposed them on this position. This process was late until Congress put together slavery and the owner was able to possess the security of slaves. Decision after a year after John Punch has been declared a lifelong slavery shows the random nature of slavery at the time.
