Since I am reading the most movie "Avatar" now, I have read many criticisms, mainly anthropologists. These discussions tend to argue that there is a racist theme in the movies; in fact, this seems to be everything they see in the movies. I think that criticism against this film is somewhat correct, but I think there is more than that. The greatest difficulty surrounded by scholars and always by scholars is that we do not have the ability to understand almost everything.
The first avatar I made was when I was doing sims in middle school. As this game involves building your character from scratch, I will show my avatar to be an adult. My friends and I play together in this virtual world to build a dream life with our dream house, dream family. We will make our own role as self, but as an adult we will pass our real friendship to our sim. My sim avatar looks like me in some ways, such as golden curls, brown eyes, fair white. But, as I am fully controlling my avatar, some of my features are more ideal. I think my hair is longer as an adult so I made my hair longer than before, but so far this is not the case. The face I built is at least as beautiful as possible in my junior high school. I am not a totally ugly middle school student, but I hope the simulation looks complicated.
At first, I thought the definition of avatar is not that complicated. I know who bought my services and products, but the more we practice it, the more we get to know them, the less I do not know about my daily activities I will. Did I always want to sell my item to the wrong customer?
The word "avatar" is what I have heard before. When I first read it in our syllabus, I would say the truth, but I thought that we would write articles about the movie. Okay, I got far away. I forgot that the word "avatar" has a double meaning; I am not completely aware of it, I have to do it myself everyday. According to the defined avatar, it is "an icon or graphic representing a particular person in a computer game, internet forum, etc." I helped create the identity I have on the Internet by taking pictures of my life and using it as an avatar for every page or profile I've worked on. More importantly, I would like people to see my identity. By using automatic ethnography, I can explain and explain the moment of my own life "showing both self and culture" (Liao 32)
