My mother got married to my father, Hermann Wakuta, and was the son of a survivor of the Holocaust. My father committed suicide in 1993 when I was 11 years old (and my own situation complicated by drug addiction). Many people in my family have experienced a mental health crisis and need to be hospitalized at some point. Yes, my mother and my father had a childhood difficult to raise by parents. However, there are also several scientific studies closely related to trauma of parents, especially trauma experienced by mothers. This is actually transmitted to descendants via DNA, children become more prone to stress disorder and depression after trauma. Therefore, this is not only an environmental problem but also a genetic problem.
