My parents insisted that I moved to the United States to attend college when I was 17 years old. Before that, nurturing a dual culture was unique to me. For the first time in the United States, I was surprised that hundreds of classmates have bicicultural (or multi-cultural) careers like me. My new friends speak multiple languages, and most importantly they never think about themselves except Americans. Overseas, like other volunteers, I often hear that Americans are too friendly, laughing too much, or are too inclined to start a conversation. I can not help but believe that Americans have met new and different people throughout my life. It is a survival tool for the United States that you are smart, friendly, and good at talking to others. I never stopped being surprised by the diversity of this country, that is the diversity that makes the United States great.
