Mussolini's Invasion of Abyssinia as his Greatest Success in Foreign Policy in the Period 1922-38

Absinia's invasion by Mussolini was his greatest success in the foreign policy between 1922 and 1938. I do not agree with this statement. I think Mussolini 's participation in Abyssinia is not the success of his biggest foreign policy. At home, it brought praise and merit to him - the fascist movement is now more popular in Italy than ever. Nevertheless, his international reputation has been compromised, it can be said that the relationship between Britain and France, and Abyssinia is Mussorini's "from the end to the end".

With that in mind, Mussolini decided to invade Abyssinia in 1935. Since 1870, Ethiopia was the traditional goal of Italian colonial ambition. It came back to the goal of Mussorini in 1922, it precluded the shame that Italy was defeated by Ethiopians in 1887 and 1896. Italians were shot dead at an oasis on the Ethiopian side of the border with Italy's Somaliland. Ethiopia immediately requested an apology and submitted the problem to the League of Nations. In the next ten months, Italy is preparing to completely invade Ethiopia

After the Abyssinian crisis of 1935 - 1936, Mussolini invaded Ethiopia in the second Italo - Ethiopian War. Western countries condemned aggression and imposed economic sanctions on Italy. As Hitler backed the invasion, the relationship between Germany and Italy improved. In 1936, Mussolini surrendered Austria to the German sphere of power, signed a cooperation treaty with Germany, announced the establishment of the Axis between Rome and Berlin. From 1936 to 1939, Mussolini offered massive military assistance to the Franco army during the Spanish civil war. This aggressive intervention keeps Italy away from France and the UK. Mussolini tried to postpone a massive war in Europe, but Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. And France and the UK declared war and began World War II. In October 1940, Mussolini dispatched the Italian army to Greece and began the Greek-Italian war.
