Music and Gender

Through the experiences of performers, composers and ethnomusicologists working in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North America, music and gender change how usage and explanation of music changes with rapid changes in politics, economy or technology I will explore.

Case studies in the Central African Republic, Finland and Turkey are discussing how performance reflects gender and promoting other social goals such as identity negotiation and change in consciousness.
