Mr. Kim (“Appa”)

Appa is a 56 year old Kim's Convenience Korean boss. He is a mixture of Archie Bunker and King of Kensington. He is a practical, obstinate, self-righteous person, with open mind but has traditional values. He has unique insights into his life and likes to share this view. He has a gentle heart, but he will never be fooled. He is a master of Korean fighting sports Hapkido and he uses it to protect his shop, sometimes even his point of view. He thought he was a convenience store, but most of the comfort was a hammer. Appa is a member of a loyal family, but his frankness also interacts with his family. Fortunately, his family has become like them. Unfortunately, this has led to long-term alienation of his eldest son, John.

As a role, Appa is old, and it feels dark in the original drama production.
