Modernization, Elites, and the Distribution of Educational Resources in Thailand

Traditional modernization theory believes that the penetration of formal education is essential for further economic and cultural change and it is widely useful for public benefit. This view on the role of education in development is challenged by another view suggesting that the distribution of educational resources may adversely affect the narrow benefits of the elite.
