Modern Philanthropy

In his article "The Charm of Luxury" James B. Twitchell says "Poverty is probably new luxury ... competitive charity is attractive" (110). While this is a good idea, it seems unlikely that when the only stimulus disappears to be the greatest contributor to charity, the rich as they may get bored with their money and luxury. The wealthy people who participated in the biggest donor race did not show interest in killing their accounts for better profit.

The money itself to create and create the most modern charity projects can be viewed as signs of inequality. Most of the money in charity comes from rich, family, and institutions. Old money is often "dirty" for some reason. It is because it is often derived from what is currently considered not ethical, such as child labor, slavery, bribery. Several ways to earn money today can shock future generations. However, it is best for some people to finally enter charity as long as the benefits flow.

There are thousands of years of history in charity projects. Like modern philanthropists, ancient people were engaged in charity for a variety of reasons. Several reasons are goodwill and concerns about common interests. Some people use philanthropy as a way to gain recognition, fame and power, but others see charity as a way to gain the support of the gods. More than 4,000 years ago, Chinese families provided loose subsidies for widows, orphans and the elderly. The Hebrews made a tenth of their income as a gift to people in need of God. This custom, called a tenth, continues today with many religions. Ancient Egyptian rulers and aristocrats were donated to poor people to please God and to ensure future happiness (Weaver 1967)

The contemporary charity, or what we call charity today, comes from ancient culture. Chinese classical thought, Hindu classics, and ancient Greeks believe that charitable acts and devotion are an important part of our human existence and "foundation of democracy". Historically, many cultures can see the ideal of similar devotion; the ancient civilization of sub-Saharan countries holds goodwill and reciprocity with great respect. Classical and massive Jewish and Christian religions all tell "as you do as you do" as a means to help others

I believe the development of philanthropy arises from the impulse to bring about human service, help, and change to others. The role of charity project in modern society is fully utilized by the concept of "social venture capital". It is the money applied to solve the problem and otherwise create opportunities that do not arise from normal public and commercial activities. It is important to tackle the fundamental problems of people who have "not" those who do not. For me, if I am a very tall person, there is clearly a utilitarian or effective altruistic view of the next marginal income unit. People with income privileges may have a major impact on the lives of other people in the world. According to many of our beliefs and code of conduct, this behavior creates many moral and rational consciousness.
