MLA Style Guide, 8th Edition: Formatting Your MLA Paper

MLA research papers do not need a title page, but your teacher may need it. If there is no instruction, follow the MLA guidelines below.

Enter the next 1 inch from the top of the first page and make it the same height as the left margin (full duplex space)

Please put the title in the center of the next line. We follow upper and lower case letters rules. Do not mark the title in italic, underlined, or bold. The exception is when your title contains a title. Example: Orange violent attitude of clockwork

Include the last name and page number in the upper right corner of each page. The page number is 0.5 inches from the top and is the same height as the right margin. If your teacher does not like the page number of the first page, please start with 2 on the 2nd page.

You can save your personal template in Microsoft Word (IRSC student, free download office). These are templates that you can use each time you need to create a research paper using MLA style format. Every time you need to write MLA style paper, just open the template and enter your own information. You can save personal templates by using Microsoft Word. After opening the template in Word

When you open Word, you can then select a template instead of a blank document. You may have to select "Personal" to find your template

Please choose MLA 7 or MLA 8 when your teacher or professor asks you for reference in MLA format. Version 7 has been replaced by the 8 th edition in April 2016. Seventh editions are still in use at some schools and courses, but most of them use the new rules and guidelines of the eighth edition. If you do not know which version to use, please ask your teacher or school librarian for help. After selecting MLA 7 or MLA 8, select the source you want to reference next. If the source of the reference you are creating is a book, select [Book] from the drop down menu. If you are trying to browse the website, select Site from the drop down menu. Since nearly 60 different source types are listed in the drop down menu, you can select various options.

There are many ways to set reference styles, but this guide will pay special attention to the MLA reference page. MLA stands for Modern Language Association. They are authors of the MLA format which is a common style for creating references. Many literature and language courses adopt MLA style, but because of their popularity, they are adopted in many other fields and fields. This guide follows the current version of the guide, Version 8. A bibliographic item is a list of sources related to research papers or project contents. You can find examples of reference books on the last page of some non-fiction books. The author sometimes contains a list of sources for further or additional reading. This additional reading list is a reference.
