Mitosis July 21, 2005 Overview Laboratory exercises related to mitosis have seen various slides including cell mitotic cells. I observed the slip of onion tip and aphid eggs of two different specimens. Some cells are at different stages of mitosis (interphase, anterior, middle, posterior, and terminal). I saw it under HPO and LPO. Chromosomes are found in both LPO and HPO, but due to optical microscopy limitations spindle fibers are less visible.

Mitosis is the fundamental process of life. During mitosis, the cell replicates all its contents, including its chromosome, and divides to form two identical daughter cells. As this process is very important, the steps of mitosis are tightly controlled by many genes. If mitosis is not properly regulated, it may lead to health problems such as cancer. Another type of cell division, meiosis ensures that humans have the same number of chromosomes in each generation. This is a two step process that reduces the number of chromosomes from 46 to 23 to form sperm cells and egg cells. When sperm cells and egg cells fuse during conception, each contributes to 23 chromosomes, and the resulting embryo will have a normal 46. Meiosis also allows genetic mutation through DNA shuffling process while cell division

Mitosis is the process of cell division where somatic cells divide and they are genetically similar to their mother cells. The same is true for the same number of chromosomes. The main difference between animal cell mitosis and plant cell mitosis is that animal cells undergo wrinkling of cells but plant cells are not subject to wrinkling of cells due to stiff cell walls. The main difference is the final stage, the final stage of mitosis. Therefore, cytoplasmic division is different between the two cells. In mitosis of animal cells, wrinkles occur, and the cut becomes deeper until it contacts the cell membrane. The difference lies in the end stage of the mitotic process and no unique cell plate is formed in animal cells. Mitosis occurs throughout the tissues of the body and the formation of purpura occurs also in mitosis of animal cells. In addition to the formation of star-shaped particles, central particles are formed.
