Misconceptions About God

I recently read an online survey of views on Christianity in God. 46% of respondents believe that God is God of anger and judgment. 16% believe that God hates sinners and is a god of punishment. Of all the surveyed people, only 20% think that God is the god of love, he loves everyone. Several other categories were also listed, but what surprised me was how many Christian believers were rejected. In essence, except for 20% of those who believe that God is a rejected god, they are only waiting for rejection, judgment and punishment.

These misconceptions about the personality of God are mostly derived from Leviticus and since then have remained fundamentally distorted our understanding of God in the rest of the Old Testament. This misunderstanding results in domino effects - it distorts our view of Jesus' life, death and resurrection in the New Testament. In the next two weeks our blog focuses on the atonement, the sacrifice, Jesus, and how it reveals the goodness of God. In Leviticus, human sin is an act of destroying, infecting and hurting the good world of God. This idea is rooted in the explanation of the human rebellion in Genesis 3-11. The relationship that sin leads to destruction leads to power struggle, which then leads to violence and widespread systemic evil. All of these have corrosive or polluting effects that affect not only malicious people but also the entire community. Remember, the Leviticus came after the end of the tabernacle, and God wants to live in the center of the Israeli community.

Today there are many misunderstandings about God in the world. Some think that he is angry about them, others think he will give them all their mistakes. But this is not written in the Bible. The Bible tells us that God is kind, patient, caring; he is forgiven and does not regard us as our sin. The Bible says that God exists for us. Please think about that. The same God who created heaven and earth, a man who speaks the universe and knows everything about you, he is standing by your side and wants the best for you. Today's verse is a good memory to remind us that no one can win you when God is for you. It is not your past pain. You have not made a mistake. This concept, the greatness of God, is the source of many glory, the source of the misunderstanding of "God". Creator of all living creatures, God of the earth is a human mind architect.
