Minnesota Dreamer - Original Works Even though I do not have a dream, I always have a plan. At college, I learned to be responsible and organized and I set goals that I can accomplish. Everything has changed. I will never forget the last week of my university last year. A few days after graduation, I was diagnosed as my brain tumor at my hometown. I left the hospital alone and it was destroyed. I do not know what will happen to my future, I shed countless tears. My close friends relieved the pain, but I can not hide the fear of their death.

Joyce Sutphen grew up on a farm in Minnesota. She received a doctorate in theater at the University of Minnesota and taught English literature and creation at Gustavus Adolfs College in St. Peters, Minnesota. Her first poetry 'Straight out of view' (1995) received the Bernard Poetry Prize.
