In the New York Times article on 7th September 2011, Deborah Weisberg's title is "Coal mine emissions lawsuit in Pennsylvania state" and is an article on an important intersection in the US mining industry. This intersection is indicated by a small icon next to an article labeled "Politics and policy". This label shows the political nature of most environmental problems of today. Coal mining has a great impact on the environment and remains as the economic foundation of many Appalachians.
This document shows that despite the healthy laws, policies and regulations providing the foundation for the green mining, there remains a large gap still allowing most foreign mines to pollute the environment . This is particularly the result of development agreements that will benefit investors for the state, community and the environment. In addition, it shows how the support of economic benefits to environmental protection is interfering with the work of government agencies such as ECZ and MSD overseeing environmental health, safety and sustainability of mining companies. These agencies also lack institutional capacity to manage increasingly diverse and complex sectors. Furthermore, the economic risk of landmines is not important to deter polluters. At a billion dollar annual income enterprise, the contamination penalty is very small
In Mali, corruption, expansion of illegal mining, there is relevance between environmental pollution. The gold sector is the major economic sector of Mali, accounting for two-thirds of exports (African Development Bank 2017). This department can be roughly divided into two categories. Craftmaker mining and industrial mining, including forms of illegal mining and permitted informal mining. After the crisis of 2012, the craftsmen's mining industry grew and became an established means to secure a basic economic life. Government officials have been shown to tolerate and / or complicate the use of craftsmen's work outside the legal area to obtain revenue sources (U4 2017). Illegal mining requires not only exploitation of labor but also high risk of environmental pollution.
