John Milton was born on December 9, 1608. He graduated from Christian College of the University of Cambridge. After graduation, Milton became a strong supporter of Oliver Cromwell against the monarchy. Milton worked hard to write a brochure for Cromwell and print it. He was warned that all work would hurt his already poor eyesight, but he did not ask, and in 1651 Milton, a 44 - year - old became paralyzed. In his later years, he lived in the country and wrote poems. His poem "Lost Paradise" is considered to be one of the most important English poems.
At the beginning of the sonnet, Milton said that his experience 's advantage was postponed when he was blind. The words "darkness", "death", "wasted" (lines 2 to 4) represent Milton's emotional state. His blindness made a cover of clarity in his heart. The third line "Talent for hiding death" means the biblical background of the Bible. The third line is a story of Matthew XXV, 14 to 30 years old, not a god 's servant filling in his talent, not investing in it. In the return of the Lord he put his servant in the "outer darkness" and took away everything he had. Therefore, Milton dedicated his life to writing; but his blind raped the gift of his god. A huge cloud covered him and made his life and the world more realistic. Like a servant, Milton was thrown into the dark.
John Milton was born in Puritan family in 1608. During the federal service in 1652, Milton was blind, and others needed to share his work. His blindness caused one of the most shocking sonnets, "his blindness" written in 1655. It records his fears and he can never use the gift that God gave them for poetry. But God can ask for explanation of his justice. Entry into his heaven depends on how he uses the gift given from God. The end of the sonnet is that Milton accepted the fact that God's request for Him is obedience and resignation. That way, even if he can not write poetry, he can serve God.
