Michelangelo

Michelangelo Michelangelo is one of the most respected and successful artists in history. He was born in Caprese, a small village near Arezzo but Michelangelo grew up in Florence. His father was Ludovico Buonarroti, an official in Florence that was related to the dominant Medici family. At the age of 13, Michelangelo was appointed as an apprentice to the Domencio Ghirlandaio studio. Then he studied at the Medici Garden sculpture school. He was later invited to the Medici family where he met two Medici boys who later became Pope Leo X and Clement VII.

Michelangelo (Full name: Michelangelo di Rodovico · Buonarroti · Simoni) was born in Caprese village of Florence, the father's name is a local magistrate. A few weeks after Michelangelo was born, the family returned to Florence, after overcoming the opposition of their parents in 1488, he officially became an apprentice of Domenico Ghirlandaio for a term of three years. After that, Michelangelo tried to suppress this fact, probably because he seemed not to have taken ordinary workshop training.
