Pune Metro is a subway project under construction in the Pune capital region. The project was started by the Pune Metropolitan Development Bureau (PMRDA). This project is carried out by Maharashtra Metro Co., Ltd. (MAHA-METRO). It is a 50:50 jointly owned company of the Government of India and Maharashtra State.

According to the detailed project report (DPR), the project is scheduled to be completed within 5 years from the start of work.

The second line becomes the first line. It connects Ramwadi to Vanaz. Construction work is scheduled to be completed by 2019

The 20% share of the provincial government includes expenses to acquire land (including government land) at market price. PMRDA submitted a proposal to request the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for a government loan of Rs. 632.5 billion.

The Pune Metro project was completed on 24th December 2016. The Government of India has approved the first stage development of the Pune Metro project with a total length of 31.25 kilometers and a total completion cost of 11.4 billion rupees (US $ 7 billion).
