The biggest difference between these two characters is that Gregor and Mersault are figures. One becomes a huge insect and the other is still a normal human. Mersault's mother is very angry at a part of the novel, but he does not care for her or wants to be connected with her. The similarity of these two personality is that they do not believe in God, they are lonely and abandoned.
The end of these two stories supports the foundation of existentialism by showing the following rules: responsibility, solitude, abandonment, uncontrollable behavior and nonvolatility-causing behavior and non-participation.
