Social and cultural costs and benefits of men and women participating in non-traditional sports In sports, the boundaries separating gender are historically derived from social thought. These boundaries have declined recently, but they are still deeply rooted in the attitude of the majority of the public. Both women and men participate in their own sports without taking too much space or through this gender line. These restrictions take different forms. For example, a person who wants to participate in a particular sport has the opportunity to obtain an explanation of the athlete's media over these sexual boundaries.
Regardless of the traditional gender-specific sports concept of the past, society has to start accepting various sports where both men and women can participate. Women should be allowed to participate in traditional "male" sports such as hockey, bodybuilding, boxing, without being identified as lesbians. Men should be allowed to participate in traditional "female" sports such as synchronized swimming and hockey without losing their "manhood". People do not lose manhood / femininity as they choose to participate in sports. Through the movie we saw during this semester, we see that women can maintain femininity even if they compete with men. Nothing is lost when sports that traditionally can not be applied to a particular race or gender. As regards sports, society becomes more aware of different kinds of people, when they engage in sports and act well, do not have any stereotypes in anyone.
There is no law prohibiting women from playing baseball or men play softball, but these two sports are often divided by gender.
