Melodrama

There are many arguments in movie research about movies being treated as melodramas. Filmologist Steve Neil 's article "Scenario and Female Film" explains the paradigm shift experienced in the 1970s since the melodrama was quiet. Meanwhile Christine Gledhill's article "Reconsider type" and "Plot Theater: A Survey" indicate that the melodrama is just a model and not a de facto type. Thomas Elcell's article "The Story of Sound and Anger: Observation of Family Memo Dramas" identifies different types of melodramas.

The content of the melodrama is based on the history of the American drama, and today it depicts Hollywood movies, family and romance, dissolution and betrayal, violence and terrorism.
