In the next movie Riso amaro, melodramas and new realism coexist and achieve various objectives. In other words, Giuseppe de Santis used them side by side as a symbol of consumerism and Marxist ideals. In fact, De Santis is already a well-known communist thinker and often conveys these ideas through his work. In order to begin understanding the importance of this symbol in Riso amaro, it is necessary to first explore the influx of American culture to Italy. Every country feels that it is itself susceptible to foreign military culture, but the liberated Americans had a particularly strong impact on Italy during the Second World War.
At the beginning of the movie Rome, subtitles tell us the source of the story: the story of a tragic and moving nazi Germany for nine months since Italy was occupied by Italy in 1943. The story begins by searching for a hero named Giorgio Manfredi which is the head of resistance. Gestapo's search is useless. After that, the scene moved to the office of Gestapo in Germany. In this scene, one man speaks German and two men in the room speak Italian. This reflects the reality of the time - the city is dominated by authorities in Italy and Germany, that is open to foreign invaders
Rome, città aperta means "Rome, open city". The movie is directed by Roberto Rossellini. The pictures are Aldo Fabrizi, Anna Magnani, and Marcello Pagliero. It was in Rome during Nazi occupation. The movie was awarded several awards at various film festivals and was chosen as Best Screenplay Award. Lavitaèbella means "Life is good." This film is supervised by Roberto Benigni, a heroic actor Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian. It is set during the Second World War and tells stories that lasted several years. This film was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1998 and continues to win the Best Prize (festival-cannes.com). At the 71st Academy Awards, the film received the Best Music Award, Original Drama Award, Best Foreign Language Film Award. Benigni received the Best Actor award in his funny role of father
Movie Rome style, città aperta is called neo realism. Shoot using the actual location. Character's behavior and character's clothing are close to reality. The documentary style represents a painful truth at the time, as the details of people's lives directly reflect the actual situation they are facing. This is the opposite of the dramatic and ideal Hollywood movie of those days. In Lavitaèbella, the entire story is basically set up in a relatively easy and enjoyable atmosphere. Humor sense spreads throughout the plot. I use some realistic style to express the historical surroundings around the main heroes and heroines, but it looks primarily like a fairy tale. The only tragic conspiracy was presented near the end of Guido 's murder story (even not directly to the audience).
