James Cassedy explained the outline of American medical history. This book never win a literary award in the near future, but it is an excellent writing tool for starting medical research. He presents his theme in such a way that they are interesting and casts doubts about the past of their medical culture to the reader. He requires little subject choice, he has discussed each topic thoroughly according to the time interval he has designated.

Medical practice in Europe and North America early in the nineteenth century was sometimes called hero medicine because of the extreme means (eg blowing blood) being used to treat the disease. Hahnemann and other early homeopathic therapies use the term homologous therapy to emphasize the difference between homeopathic medicine and those at the time.
