The right to use cannabis for selective care is a longstanding fight between the US federal government and those who demand its therapeutic use. The history of the use of cannabis (also known as hemp) has played a major deterrent role in legalizing this type of medicine today. Controversy arises from the US federal government's medical and legal impact on the use of cannabis. Other controversies relate to the submission of petitions to reclassify marijuana (regulated substances) for selective care.

Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 29 states, recreational marijuana is legal in 9 states. Several other states are considering changing the law. Most doctors say that at least medical medical marijuana should be legalized nationwide and can bring real benefit to patients.

Controversy over whether to legalize medical marijuana is very important. Doctors and scientists continue to study the influence of medicines on people with various diseases. After studying the many advantages of medical cannabis to prevent its potential harm it is clear that medical marijuana (MMJ) should be legalized. Between childhood epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease, the advantages of MMJ are diverse. Doctors prescribe cancer patients to treat anorexia, stress, depressive symptoms and other diseases. It is also used to help patients with multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, hepatitis C, lupus and inflammatory bowel disease. Patients with drug nausea are alleviated during treatment as well as patients with chronic pain. Even the Epilepsy Foundation requires the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to reduce regulations on drugs.

Medical marijuana (also known as medicinal cannabis) is used to treat health conditions such as cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis or severe pain or nausea. In many states, medical marijuana is legally recommended under your healthcare provider's recommendation. The US Food and Drug Administration (also known as FDA) has not approved cannabis as a safe and effective drug against any health condition. FDA is a government agency to protect the health of the United States by ensuring the safety of foods, medicines and cosmetics.
