In many cases, people do not like to leave their own comfort zone and try new things. Years ago, Plato created an experiment that could no longer be created; he wrote a story called a cave allegory. In the fable of Plato's cave, the prisoner was locked in the wall and trapped and used only to hear the reaction of his voice, only to see the shadow caused by a prison guard. The prisoner was released from the cave to observe the reality and inform other prisoners in the cave.
Media is a powerful phenomenon inevitably penetrating our lives, affecting our perception of the world, and building a way to understand the reality of society. The concept of celebrity helps to demonstrate how the power of this media plays a role in the influence and construction of modern life. The media industry has the ability to turn real people into celebrities and spotlight them by integrating them into media stories in the media industry and entertainment (Ruddock, 2013).
Explain how individuals organize social reality and judge world society (Perse, 1986). In other words, our perception of reality is developed by what is seen in the media, whether it is "cultivated" (Gerbner, Gross, Morgan & Signorelli, 1986). This is also the foundation of the media's exposure to expectations related to the perception of African Americans. Signorelli and Morgan (1990) emphasizes that cultivating is not a linear relationship between television and viewers, but rather a continuous process between messages and context. They point out that heavy media audiences are likely to give answers similar to what they see on television. Therefore, the authors also pointed out that watching television is individual-specific, due to the particular lifestyle and cultural norms. In other words, TV programs may make people cry, but the same program can urge people to kill.
Mass media influences our reality perception. Americans gain much information from the mass media. If the case is not written in the newspaper before television broadcasting, people may never know what happened. Even after the arrival and development of television, the mass media influenced our reality. When a story appears on television, the news reports a lot about its importance. The content of the first episode or the second episode is much more than the last story of the news. If the story does not appear on the TV news report, many people will not know specific events.
