As Platon once said, "Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance." From radio to TV shows, popular magazines to online blogs, citizens, politicians, entertainers comment on various topics. With the progress of these technologies and social media we can nurture our own democratic right based on the first amendment (Freedom of Expression), explore, discuss issues from various perspectives, and express opinions I did it. Since everyone's opinion is different from the next person, having a wide range of opinions can motivate indirect education of those who do not know the topic and to further study the topic.
Last week, we focused on Kony 2012, a campaign that attracts millions of people using YouTube videos. Of course, it is greatly influenced by social media. If it is not due to a follower on the Internet, it may not reach the audience that it owns. But this week we will sneak into the sports we use as a tool to educate and influence social media in the Arab Spring, a large international audience. Arab Spring Uprising uses social media as a means of covering important events such as protests and providing a platform for commenting on such events. Using the # egypt, # libya, and # Jan25 tags, campaigns can "mediate a wide range of political engagement practices among various social media users" (Bruns et al)
#BlackLivesMatter You need to support the campaign. That is because it is not just a reason for it being real, but a social media epidemic. Did you see too many of them - remember KONY 2012? They can train believers on social media and create campaigns to become catalysts for social change.
Clearly created viral campaign is Kony 2012 video. In the video, the American organization "Invisible Children" tells the story of Joseph Connie, leader of Uganda's Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). This video is meant to promise the US government to drive Konecranes away. This video has become the most viral video ever. It was 30 minutes, but it was seen 34 million times on the first day. This event has been very successful in raising Joseph Connie and Lord's resistance mind consciousness. It accidentally caused a critical debate about American interventionism, the International Criminal Court of The Hague, and Africans who drew African agents in the story of African-Americans. But this movement failed to catch Joseph Connie or contribute to any development that might end the Lord's resistance army regime. However, Kony 2012 is impressive, people can truly design virality.
