Case overview: It all began in 1979. Mazda was a relatively small player in the global automobile market in the automotive market and wanted to be an international partner to transform from a small niche market to a global large company. At the same time, Ford is also looking for partners to support the design and production of compact cars. The two companies agree that they are logical partners. Ford is a large company in the United States, Mazda is headquartered in Japan. Mazda sold 25% of the shares to Ford and launched a cooperative agreement.

In 1988, Ford and Mazda jointly launched a project in South Korea, Kia produced reliable Festiva for sale in the United States, relying on Mazda technical cooperation. This project was evaluated by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as the most advanced and ideal complementary placement model solved between the US and Japan friendly competitors. Ford and Mazda jointly developed the current ten car models and most of Ford's models and Mazda models made significant engineering contributions. For Ford, these models include greatly improved Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer, Mini Festiva, Sporty Ford Detector, Mercury Capri and Off Road Explorer. (Treece et al., 1992)

Ford is a pioneer in the use of assembly lines. This made it possible for his company to mass produce at a cheap price. For an average American family this car is affordable for the first time. Henry grew up in Greenfield, Michigan. His father is a farmer, Henry wants to take over his family farm, but Henry is not interested in agriculture. He is more interested in machines and buildings. He left home at the age of 16 and went to Detroit to become a mechanic of apprenticeship. Ford has two brothers and two sisters.
