Masculinity Today: Men's Attitudes To Gender Stereotypes And Violence Against Women

Gender inequality is one of the main human rights violations and includes women in all areas of public life, including political representatives and access to decisions, economic opportunities and resources, family capacity and vulnerability It appears in unequal opportunities for men. Until now, gender inequality has been seen primarily as "women's problem" and the gender program focused on improving women's well-being. However, over the past few decades, awareness of the need to involve men in the promotion of gender equality is increasing, especially through active participation in policies to combat gender-based violence.

One way to begin discussing the role of men in promoting gender equality, responsibility and possibility is that man is responsible for identifying and integrating popular male roles, behavior patterns and attitudes It is to study the culture of the likeness. Thus, we recognize that the evolution of male identity is under constant pressure of society and that male behavior should meet certain expectations and norms. The socialization of men started from childhood and received various influences such as marriage relationship at parents' family, school environment, relations with fellows, information environment, respect and observation of mass media. The widely accepted male behavioral norms also determine social expectations for the characteristics, attitudes and lifestyles of modern men; these norms do not always contribute to their social well-being or quality of life . In particular, most people view the tendency of aggression and violence as a negative aspect of male sex and male identity.
