Martyn Lyons. The Writing Culture of Ordinary People in Europe, c. 1860–1920.

In this book, Martyn Lyons reviewed the personal voices of working people through writing, carefully studied the form and conditions of writing, and focused primarily on (but not exclusively) unknown writers so " A new history starting from the bottom "is proposed. In the 15th century, Johannes Gutenberg developed a new ink for printing presses in Europe. According to Martyn Lyons of his book "Book: Life History", the dye of Gutenberg is oily and is made from a mixture of light bulb (light black) and varnish and egg white. At the time, there was a 12th century type of ink consisting of Greek and Roman writing ink (soot, adhesive, water) and ferrous sulfate, bile, gum and water. None of these handwritten inks adhere to the printed surface without blurring. Finally, an oily varnish like ink consisting of soot, turpentine and walnut oil was specifically made for the printing mechanism.
