Sending humans to Mars according to all criteria is an extraordinary task and presents very real risks and challenges. The establishment of permanent settlements is complicated, but it is far less complicated than the infrastructure required to return to a mission. Mars One began signing a contract with an established aerospace company that would be able to develop the systems they needed. The mission of Mars 1 is to allow humans to move in one direction to the red planet. The purpose of the mission is to land the first Martian settlers on Earth by 2023. Applicants from 18 years of age or older are eligible to apply and Mars One has received more than 165,000 entries. But what kind of people go?
