The focus of US foreign policy is to arrest or kill Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 incident, to eliminate the terrorist organization al Qaeda and to protect the American citizens from other terrorist acts . The 9/11 attack urged President Bush to declare war on war with terrorism. He invaded, occupied, and fought extremists in Iraq. He told American people that Iraq is a terrorist country with weapons of mass destruction. The Iraq War eventually resulted in the arrest and execution of the dictator Saddam Hussein, but the cost was huge.
