Maintenance Management Systems for Malaysian Heritage Buildings

Almost all the major documents and laws concerning the protection of historical buildings emphasize the importance of building maintenance, but we have not reached agreement on the definition of maintenance. The "Burra Charter" (ICOMOS 1987) states that "repair includes repair or rebuilding and should be handled accordingly and therefore continues to protect the fabrics, contents and places in the area". Meanwhile, Feilden and Jokilehto (1993) more broadly defines that there is no clear distinction between maintenance, maintenance and repair.

This report is research on building maintenance. Maintenance of buildings is often synonymous with property management. As for the meaning of building maintenance and the efficiency of management, everyone has a different viewpoint. The main purpose of building maintenance is to ensure that the building is in good condition, to create advantageous accommodations for residents, and to ensure that the facility functional requirements are met each time .
