After the end of the criminal war, five New York criminal families appeared. They sometimes formed a new alliance or cooperative organization called the Luciano-Lansky program. The new mafia can not tolerate the idea of an ancient Italian mafia. The old Mafia believed in some kind of "honor", demanded racial purity, allowed war with other Italians, and focused on solving the old vendettas instead of earning money. The new Mafia is to organize various ethnic groups into an effective cooperative triad group and its sole purpose is to earn money. They only kill those who hinder profits. Luciano also restored the "committee" as the lead organization of criminal organizations. Ironically, the 'Americanization' of the Mafia was in close agreement with Al Kapone's tax evasion trial at the end of his career.
