MC Escher MC Escher is a Dutch graphic artist, known for its space illusion, impossible architecture, repetition of geometric patterns (tessellation), and diligence in the areas of woodcut prints and lithography. After finishing his studies, he traveled extensively in Italy where he met Jetta Umiker, his wife, who married in 1924. They settled in Rome until 1935. A week later in the city, he met artist Jessurun de Mesquita. After seeing the picture of Escher, Mezquita and the school principal suggested that he keep them. The first Escher print by M.C. sold a large amount of "Birds to Pre Birds" which is a woodcut print that Escher claimed as "work like a madman."
