Love and Other Grades: A Study of the Effects of Romantic Relationship Status on the Academic Performance of University Students

In some studies investigating the impact of romantic relationships on academic performance, most studies focused on adolescent students. In this study, we analyzed the data set of more than 300 students from the mid-sized private university in the northeastern United States and judged whether participation in a romantic relationship can predict the average grade or the number of attendance. The results of multivariate analysis showed that being in a romantic relationship during college days was significantly related to absenteeism in class, but not related to average grade. Specifically, the logistic regression model shows that the number of people involved in a romantic relationship exceeds the odds of not attending more than three classes of meetings per course per semester. As a practical meaning of these findings, considering the romantic relationship between undergraduates between university administrators and teachers, tackling the problem of attending a course is one example. In addition, this research suggests that future researchers will study romantic relationships and romantic partner characteristics to more fully understand how this relationship affects university student academic performance .

Matthew E. Kopfler (2003) conducted a similar study at the University of Loyola to study the impact of romantic relationships on undergraduate student achievement. The research hypothesis is that students participating in the relationship do not go academically like students who do not participate in a romantic relationship. This research was conducted for 75 undergraduates of Loyola University. After collecting the findings and analyzing the results, Kopfler concluded that the GPA will not be affected if the student participates in a romantic relationship.

Love and Other Achievements: Study on the Influence of Romantic Relationship on College Student's Academic Performance

The purpose of this research was to investigate whether there is a correlation between academic performance and high school students' relationship. Observed variables are the schedule status (single or involved), the degree of participation in the relationship, and the average score. Variables are calculated based on the survey relationship and school satisfaction. I studied 75 high school students who entered St. Joseph University. Approximately 51% of respondents are involved in this relationship

Our research is to judge how the difference in degree of participation in a romantic relationship affects student GPA of pharmacy students. There are many studies investigating the relationship between date and student's GPA. Many researches have been conducted using high school students and undergraduates. Phuong T. Pham (2002) conducted research at Loyola University. "Influence of romantic relationship on university's academic record" is investigating the relationship between university date and academic achievement. Pham assumes that GPA will be reduced by subscription at undergraduate course. A survey was conducted at Loyola University and as a result of analyzing the results, it was concluded that there is no correlation between academic performance and date.
