There are countless different types of children in our school system. Students in this group include students diagnosed with Down's syndrome. More than 250,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with Down Syndrome (Genetics). Down syndrome is not a recessive disorder, but it has physical characteristics that make the diagnosis clear. In addition, people with Down's syndrome and their families must deal with various health problems, cognitive limits, and prejudices of disability.
Ironically, for infants born with Down's Syndrome, the prospects were never good. Medical and social progress fundamentally changed the meaning of Down's syndrome. Most Down's syndrome patients are included in schools and communities. They live healthier and longevity lives, and many adults live independently, work, and enjoy a rich social life. In 2013, a young woman with Down Syndrome became the first parliamentarian in Spain. One study showed that most people with Down's syndrome express happiness and satisfaction, regardless of functional skills. That is why Downpride discontinues the systematic screening of Down's syndrome as part of the public health program and requires the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to regulate the introduction of prenatal genetic testing. Their genetic predisposition to discriminate people
Down syndrome is an increasingly common disease in the United States. This is an inherited disorder caused by extra chromosome 21. One in 800 births is Down Syndrome (National Down Syndrome Association). Down syndrome is the most common form of identifiable delay (Ludman and Wynbrandt, p. 23) and genetic disease (National Down Syndrome Association). Down syndrome was initially thought to be a disease by John Langdon Down in 1866 and is called "father" of Down syndrome with the same name as Down. The original name of Down's syndrome was "a fool of Mongolia" due to the inclination of the eyes and a flat face (National Down Syndrome Association). He thinks this is a counterattack against Mongolian ancestors, but that word is now considered to be outdated and aggressive. But centuries ago, the characteristics of Down's syndrome were discovered in art, literature and science (National Down Syndrome Association).
Parents of children with Down's syndrome have written a lot of articles about their lives and contribute to much research as with Down's syndrome patients themselves. From these sources, you can see that people with Down's syndrome live well. Their families are as stable and functional as families including only obstructing children. So why do some children do not want to suffer from Down's syndrome? When parents recalculate early stages after receiving a child's diagnosis, the explanation will appear repeatedly. They are getting lost as the children no longer dream of getting married, going to college, or someday starting their own family. Indeed, some people with Down's syndrome do this. Still, perfect hope and dream may be a strong motive for parents to choose abortion.
