This article provides academic criticism of the new media culture compared with George Orwell's "1984". The authors believe that some plot elements of "1984" are reflected in modern Western society. Express these similar factors as a result of the new media technology. The government of the real world has adopted new media technology to dominate in a manner comparable to the fictional "brothers" of Orwell. The author first describes social and political patterns in Orwell 's written novels. The next section will introduce the latest ways in which government agencies use new media technologies as monitoring tools. The author believes that the US government uses new media technology as a propaganda tool. Through the use of new media, the United States is trying to limit the ability of people to reject their stories. In the last section, the authors detail how new media technologies can contribute to the destruction of language and knowledge. The authors conclude that the negative effects of new media technology can only be improved through critical thinking.
