Literature and the Industrial Revolution

In the Industrial Revolution, poetry has advanced and Romanticism has begun. Romanticism began in the 18th century and is said to have been influenced by the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution. People decided to resist the political and social rules of the day and started a new art trend. It conveys a dramatic theme with strong feelings and imagination. Throughout history, many memorable events such as war, revolution, industrialization, and disease have influenced the literature at the time. Many critics quickly pointed out the literary revolution caused by the industrial revolution, but many critics are not willing to dig deep into the past. However, the 14th century literary revolution was equally dramatic. Repetitive plague during the century has brought many major changes in European society. And it deeply enhanced the content, quantity and moral value of medieval literature audience.

Along with the development of the 20th century, the conflict between life and literature, and between humans and machines also changed. This is characterized by further automation of production data by computers and electronic products. Now the computer can operate the machine and work for some people. Computer controlled robots on the assembly line perform a wide range of work from precision welding to assembly. Of course, you can also do things that were previously impossible on your computer, from space exploration to risk management for new job creation.

By convention, the Industrial Revolution ended around 1840. The Second Industrial Revolution - characterized by the emergence of large scale production and electrification - began around 1870. Then there was a computer and a third industrial revolution. Now, I think many people are experiencing the fourth industrial revolution brought about by artificial intelligence, automation, and new genetic technologies. These phases certainly have to cope meaningfully to the year of the development of our technology and industry. But from all perspectives of human history over 200,000 years it is more meaningful to pull back the lens and observe the four industrial revolution and treat them as the four stages of the event. In other words, the four stages of the industrial revolution began around 1800 and are ongoing.
