Langston Hughes Langston Hughes was born on February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. He was named after his father James Hughes, but he was known as Langston. He is the only child of his parents James and Kelly Hughes. His parents have not been married for a long time due to an unhappy marriage. When they parted, Langston left his mother. And he moved from one city to another to let him go and find a job. Langston eventually lived in Lawrence Kansas with his 70 - year - old grandmother. His famous poet, Langston Hughes, played an ambitious role in the Harlem Renaissance and provided a driving force for the black community to fight for their right rights. Hughes conveyed an important message and wrote his poem to support the movement. When he was young, the teacher introduced him to the poet Carl Sandberg and Walt Whitman who urged him to begin his own creation. As "Dark Brother", he called him a black man, and he was hoping to experience getting his rights
The official name of James Mercer Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri in 1902. He is the only son of James Nathaniel Hughes and Carrie Mercer Langston. His parents divorced when he was young and his father moved to Mexico. My mother often travels to look for work and often absent, so my grandmother raised the fuse until I was 12 years old. His childhood was very lonely, and he often regarded himself as a book. This is a great narrator who transferred the importance of Hughes grandmother, her love and education for literature.
